A Gay Man's guide to the march and april album drops: Pinky Toe

Aidan Fairchild-Sandoval

Here at The Pinky Toe we pride ourselves on our inclusive and diverse staff full of people from all walks of life. Our army of girls and gays has helped me put together a list of the most important album drops in the upcoming months that you need to know about. I mean if you’re reading this article you’re probably one of us right?

March started off with a bang as Faye Webster released Underdressed at the Symphony on the 1st. Faye pulled through once again providing more incredible music, out of her sad girl era. Moving on it seems she has found love again, and even though she is “Feeling Good Today,” I will keep streaming “Johnny” because I am not!

Looking back a little bit, March started off with the highly anticipated release of Eternal Sunshine by Ariana Grande on the 8th. This album has already been met by rave reviews from fans all around the world. I recommend avoiding the “We Can’t Be Friends” music video for everyone’s sake, no one wants to hear you cry over that failed situationship. “the boy is mine” does serve as a great track for all of us delusional people to pretend we have anyone to begin with,

Breakout star Tyla will be releasing her self titled album on March 22nd and frankly I cannot wait. With four hit singles preceding this release there is no doubt that the tracklist will be full of ass shaking bangers. Hopefully this drop will continue to make us all lose our breath, and make us water.

Needing no introduction we all know what comes next. Beyonce will be finishing off March by dropping Act II Cowboy Carter on the 29th. Renaissance is already an album revered by the girls and gays alike and Beyonce’s Act II will likely be no different. “Texas Hold ‘Em” already gives us a taste of the country vibe she’s going for and something tells me we’ll all be buying cowboy boots and hats after this drop. After all, if they could pull it off in Brokeback Mountain so can I.

April 5th will be a win for my fellow sad people with Conan Gray releasing Found Heaven alongside Lizzy McAlpine dropping Older. After listening to both “Alley Rose” and Lizzy’s title track “Older” there is no telling who I’ll become on the 5th. My only advice to everyone is to schedule a few hours to listen and make sure you have a box of tissues for the subsequent crying.

Another double whammy on April 12th as Maggie Rogers and Girl In Red will be dropping Don’t Forget Me and I’m Doing It Again Baby respectively. Now I may only know one Maggie Rogers song because it was featured on the Heartstopper soundtrack but that’s beside the point. I know my community and there’s no doubt that these albums are highly anticipated. Rumor has it that Girl In Red will be dropping more wlw songs for straight people to post their significant other’s to, yes Chad we know that Rebecca is your girl or whatever.

I’m sure it is no surprise to you dear reader, but Taylor Swift will be dropping in April as well with The Tortured Poets Department coming out on the 19th. With no singles this album remains somewhat mysterious but if the tracklist is any indication of the topic I can only pray for the fate of Joe Alwyn. I’m sure this album will hit a bit too close to home as they always do. Taylor never fails us and this certainly will not be an exception as she says so long to London and hello to Travvy winning the big game.

Last but certainly not least is Laufey at the end of April releasing Bewitched: The Goddess Edition on the 26th. Knowing that in the original album release Laufey already called out our hopeless romantic asses, these new tracks are sure to do the same. There couldn’t be a better way to close out April’s depressing release season than hearing Laufey scream about how she is NOT our fucking goddess and more.

Well there you have it folks, March and April are looking to be good months for the girls and gays in terms of new music and these are the albums that you need to know about. If I missed any album that should be on this list feel free to let me know. (I’m just kidding, I actually don’t give a fuck about any of the albums not on this list)
